What year did you join the MMI family? 1985
What are three words you would use to describe the MMI family? Honest, consistent, in it for the long haul.
What is a fun fact that you wouldn’t mind sharing with the world about yourself? I build high-end electric guitar amplifiers which I have sold to players all over the world.
I’ve been married to my wife and best friend, Violet since 1971. We’ve lived in 22 different houses during our journey and called 7 different states home. We have two daughters, Meeghan, who lives in Columbia, S.C. and teaches at Benedict College while also serving as editor of an online publication and is on the board of several others. Our second daughter, Sarah Ralicki, lives in Palm City, FL with her husband Alex and our two granddaughters, Ella and Abby. Sarah works for G4S in cash management.
My hospitality journey began in 1982 as Asst. F&B MGR. at a Holiday Inn in Warner Robbins Ga. working for the Ga. based company, McKibbon Bros. We moved on with them to Milledgeville, Ga. as F&B director. Staying in Ga, my next position was Asst. F&B director at the Hilton Jekyll Is. Shortly after moving to St. Simons Island, I began my first job with MMI as Asst. F&B at the King & Prince Beach Hotel.
After two great years in SSI the GM position in Tallahassee FL became available. I was offered the job and I jumped at the opportunity. Three great years later, I was recruited by Bass Hotels who were in the very beginnings of purchasing Holiday Inn World Wide. This was a very exciting time in the industry as business was booming. I stayed with Bass Hotels until 1996 after which I went to work for Kessler Enterprises as Richard Kessler was just re-entering the hotel business. I managed several properties for Kessler Enterprises before leaving in late 1999 to return to Bass Hotels to be a part of their reorganization.
After only a year, I was once again given an opportunity to work for MMI in Baton Rouge. Four years later, a GM position became available at the Holiday Inn Airport in Jacksonville, Fl.. During my tenure in Jacksonville, the hotel converted to a Crowne Plaza (2010). I remained at the Crowne until its sale in Oct. 2017. Currently, I work with MMI as a Resource Mgr. MMI is opening new properties in the near future and I’m excited about this growth and opportunity
